Catching up on the seasons...

Hello Friends,

Comments from JC and KE have been encouraging, so I'm posting some new photos to share. It was also great to see JC here and spend time together at the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum--she was my first visitor from the winebrats group and I hope to see more of you here in the coming months and years.

I've been enjoying the four seasons back here on the Middle Coast and thought you'd enjoy some of the fall colors. DDG and I went for a very long drive one beautiful Sunday back in the fall and I'm wistfully remembering that day since we got buried under nearly 30 inches of snow since Dec. 6th over the course of 6 snow storms--photos from that are forthcoming. These pictures are from areas around Holy Hill and the Kettle Moraine South. I'm throwing in a photo of the museum too, just for fun.

Enjoy!

Inaugural Post

I wanted to share some wonderful wines I had the pleasure of tasting at my new favorite wine shop here, called Vino 100. I went alone, got there early and was the first at my table. In the space of about 25 minutes, I made 6 new wine-loving friends, a wonderful relationship that lasted exactly 2 hours. We exchanged emails but have yet to contact each other since that night.

At any rate, we had South African wines from the western province. Labels included KWV, Boschendale, and Rooderberg. The favorite red of the evening was Boschendale's Cathedral Cellars Shiraz (sorry I don't have the vintage info handy)--it was more on the jammy side of things, not much pepper or spice, but with enough other stuff going on, it wasn't like drinking fruit juice. I'll get back to you on the vintage. I recommend this for large, holiday meals. It's food-friendly and worked really well at our Thanksgiving dinner the other night. It complimented multiple dishes and flavors, and also went well with the turkey.

Ciao
